Some time ago, I participated in “The Whole30”. Basically you cut all grains (and happiness) and fulfill your carb requirements from potatoes and other starchy vegetables. Surprisingly, it became obvious that the thing I missed most, was oats. There is nothing quite like waking up to a hearty bowl of oats in the morning. I think I had dreams about oats on the third week. So it was only natural that I celebrated my falling off the Whole30 food bandwagon, by making these orange cranberry almond overnight oats. To be honest, I was not disappointed and would do it again if presented the option.
Orange Cranberry Almond Overnight Oats were my obvious choice, given that citrus is so abundant in the great state of Arizona right now. The cranberries and almonds elevate the flavor and give some great texture. If your starting your day with this beautiful meal, it is a great way to get your brain and metabolism working with some complex carbs.
The wonderful thing with overnight oats is, if you are not a fan of the flavor combination included with the orange cranberry almond overnight oats recipe, you can swap ingredients for what you would like.
Another great idea is to meal prep 5 times this orange cranberry almond overnight oats recipe, and you have a protein packed breakfast for the week!
